Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative said the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
