Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a final set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
